10.25.10 Mission #17 The Struggle in the Darkness

[Emailed to those walking in the steps of Mother Teresa]

So, it's said that Mother Teresa experienced a lot of inner pain due to the separation she felt from God and His love, especially between her most active and influential periods of serving the poor in Calcutta, India. I am amazed at the type of faith and dedication she had towards Jesus and the poor despite the loneliness and isolation she experienced everyday. I'm writing down some quotes that have been speaking to my heart in the most truthful and gentlest ways. I hope you too will understand that there is Perseverance and Love residing in you that will carry you through the most darkest hours of your life. Perhaps it's not too bad of an idea to strike up an honest and humble conversation with Him today. God bless you.

"If I ever become a Saint--I will surely be one of 'darkness.' I will continually be absent from Heaven--to light the light of those in darkness on earth."

"Before crosses used to frighten me--I used to get goose bumps at the thought of suffering--but now I embrace suffering even before it actually comes, and like this Jesus and I live in love."

"Do not think that my spiritual life is strewn with roses--that is the flower which I hardly ever find on my way. Quite the contrary, I have more often as my companion 'darkness.' And when the night becomes very thick--and it seems to me as if I will end up in hell--then I simply offer myself to Jesus. If he wants me to go there--I am ready--but only under the condition that it really makes Him happy. I need much grace, much of Christ's strength to persevere in trust, in that blind love which leads only to Jesus Crucified. But I am happy--yes happier than ever. And I would not wish at any price to give up my sufferings. But do not, however, think that I am only suffering. Ah no--I am laughing more than I am suffering--so that some have concluded that I am Jesus' spoiled bride, who lives with Jesus in Nazareth--far away from Calvary. Pray, pray much for me--I really need His love."

10.20.10 - Mission #16 Hope

If we were robots, or superman then maybe we wouldn't feel pain. Maybe we wouldn't have to witness extreme poverty. Maybe three million people wouldn't struggle to live on less than $2 a day.

And maybe we wouldn't feel so lonely, ugly, inferior, stupid.
But we are human, and we are all hurting.

In all of this, there is hope. There is a hope that the beauty that dwells in every person will shine. Every one, every being would see each other and themselves as beautiful and dignified.

Amidst even the incredible injustice, there is hope that one day we will recognize that we are all worthy of living and that every life is a miracle. At the end of the day what would really matter is not how much money you made for the sake of making money or how poorly or perfectly you scored on an examination for the sake of being another statistic, or your status according to worldly standards - but what would really become of consequence is what you've shared with a person, who you talked to, who you loved.

That to me, is the hope that I believe will change the world.

------------------------------------------------------------------
So here my mission began:
I come here often to just relax.
Yes, it is the library.
But it is the one place in this school that gives me
relief.

I hope that whoever picked up my gift is
fond of Hello Kitty. If not, then I'm so sorry. I hope you
may find somebody who does.
I hope these words may give you the strength to look
past your suffering. Don't give up.

Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it.”

10.2.10 Mission # 15 Anyone on midterms yet?

Had an occasion to stop by at Rutgers and though I would leave a set of jelly pens and an encouragement note since exams are probably approaching soon.

Quote is from Ralph Waldo Emerson: "What likes behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."

Table was a little crummy. LOL

Study hard and believe in yourself that you can do it!

09.30.10 Mission #14 - Smile :)

A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he cannot get along without it and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. Yet a smile cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

I can't think of many reasons to smile when I am at the library, but a smile can go a long way!  :)
